Preparing Your Outdoor Areas For A Summer Sale

The summer is almost upon this – “at last” I hear you say!

With that comes a peak time for property sales in Ireland and no matter what type or size of outdoor area you have, you need to make it as appealing as possible for potential buyers.

Here are a few tips on how to improve your outdoor spaces and make them feel as welcoming as the inside of your property.

1) Outdoor heating.

Outdoor firepits and fireplaces are all the rage nowadays and given the unpredictability of the Irish weather there’s nothing better than a warm fire to gather around after some al fresco dining. This type of feature will show your potential buyers the type of cozy gatherings they could have should they buy your home.

2) Pay attention to furniture.

If you already have some furniture outside that’s in need of an update, use water-repellent, UV-protected fabrics or zippered cushion covers to give them a lift. If you’re purchasing new furniture then choose styles that ooze relaxation and comfort to entice your buyers to sit down and imagine their life in your property.

3) Landscaping.

Without breaking the bank, where possible make the effort to plant flowers, pull weeds and ensure that the grass is freshly mowed. A little attention to detail can go a long way.

4) Give your “kerb appeal” a makeover.

In the brighter, longer and hopefully sunnier days of Irish summer, every little imperfection of your property is that bit clearer. Take the time to repaint your home if it needs a touch-up and patch or repave your driveway and paths to give that perfect first impression.

5) Power wash.

Consider renting a power washer to clean paved surfaces. It won’t take very long to transform dirty surfaces and have them looking brand new. Power washers can also tackle bricks and fences as well as paving.
